Those who speak want to persuade. But those who talk nonstop are ignored.
In leadership, a rhetorical pause is often more effective than any argument.
🔹 It lends weight to words.
🔹 It creates space for reflection.
🔹 It signals confidence.
This is especially true in meetings or presentations:
Those who master silence often master the stage as well.
But many leaders fear the pause—
because they think they always have to deliver.
The opposite is true:
Those who pause strategically come across as clearer, more thoughtful, and more credible.
My practical tip from media training:
🎯 Give it a try—one sentence, one pause.
Let your message sink in before you continue speaking.
Because: Impact isn’t created by talking. It’s created in the space in between.
